Extended Care
Our HCS before and after school program foster each child’s spiritual, cognitive, social-emotional and physical development through opportunities and experiences which focus on achievement, relationships and belonging. As a school committed to positive student development, this program supports your child's academic success and promote healthy spiritual, physical, emotional, and social development.
The program's curriculum is designed to expose students to a wide variety of activities, improve critical thinking skills, develop leadership, build character and confidence, and to improve overall health and wellness. Children participate in activities that emphasize academic enrichment, character development, and hands-on learning of valuable life skills, including cooperation, flexibility, and mutual respect.
Activities include: homework help, team sports, outdoor fun, creative arts, movement, board games and more!
This program is available for Kindergarten through 8th grade students on an academic year, monthly or day by day basis. This is a separate service of the school, and it is from 7:30 am to 9:00 am and 2:20 pm to 5:30 pm during regular scheduled school days (1:20 pm - 5:30 pm on Fridays). Extended Care is also open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm on certain school holidays, please check the school calendar for these dates.

Q: Can I drop off my child early and not sign them into Extended Care?
A: No, if you need to drop off your child earlier than their scheduled class start time they need to be signed into Extended Care and you will be billed the daily rate. No child is to be left unattended.
Q: Can I have my child wait for me outside?
A: No, your child has to stay with you at all times after you have signed out from Excare.
Q: How long do I have to pick up my child?
A: If your child has not been picked up 15 minutes after their dismissal time, they will be signed into Extended Care. Daily rates will apply.
Q: How early can I drop off my child if I did not sign up for Extended Care?
A: You can drop off your child 15 minutes before the start of class.
Q: If I have an older child and the start of class time is different than my younger child, can I drop them off at the same time?
A: Yes, you can drop off both children at the same time.
Q: For pick up, if my younger child is dismissed earlier than my older child, can I pick them up at the same time?
A: Yes, younger siblings will go to Excare with no extra charge until the oldest sibling’s dismissal time. Pick up your oldest child through the drive thru then park your car and walk into the building to pick up the younger siblings from Excare. The staff from the kiosk will be able to help you by providing your child’s name and grade level.
Q: What happens when I am running late to pick up my child?
A: Please call the front office at (650)873-4090 or Melanie Cabie at (650)636-6256 to inform the school. An Excare staff member will stay with your child until you get here. Late fees will apply.
